Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data gopickmybrain collects, why, and what rights you have. We keep it simple: we collect what we need to run the service and nothing more.

1. Who's responsible for your data

gopickmybrain is operated by GoPickMyBrain, based in Ireland. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us about privacy at hello@gopickmybrain.com.

2. What we collect

If you're an Expert:

  • Account details: email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Google.
  • Profile details: name, username/link, title, bio, photo, currency, session types and prices, meeting type and location for in-person sessions.
  • Payment links: your Revolut, PayPal, Venmo or other payment link or username. We don't collect bank or card details.
  • Availability: your weekly hours, date exceptions and time zone.
  • Bookings: details of the sessions people book with you.

If you book a session:

  • Your name and email address.
  • Your phone number, only for phone sessions.
  • Booking details: the session, date and time, the payment method you chose, and whether the Expert confirmed payment.

If you contact us: your name, email, and what you tell us.

When anyone uses the site:

  • Basic technical data such as IP address, browser and device type, and pages visited, used for security and to keep the site working.
  • Page view counts and referring sites for profile pages, which we show to Experts as simple stats.

What we don't collect: we never receive payment card or bank details. Payments happen on Revolut, PayPal, Venmo or other services under their own privacy policies.

4. Who we share it with

  • Between Expert and Booker: when you book, the Expert receives your name, email, booking details, and your phone number for phone sessions. Experts are responsible for handling this properly.
  • Public profile information: what Experts put on their page is public.
  • Service providers who help us run gopickmybrain, under contracts that protect your data:
    • Supabase: database, authentication and file storage
    • Lovable: website hosting
    • Our email delivery provider: sending booking and sign-in emails
    • Google: only if you choose "Sign in with Google"
    • Jitsi Meet: video calls, for video sessions, when you join a call
  • Authorities, where the law requires it.

5. International transfers

Some of our service providers process data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

6. How long we keep it

  • Account and profile data: while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and personal data within 30 days.
  • Booking records: up to 2 years after the session, so both sides have a record, then we delete or anonymise them.
  • Contact messages: up to 12 months.
  • Technical logs: up to 90 days.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in and the site working. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

8. Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate data;
  • delete your data;
  • restrict or object to how we use it;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it.

To use any of these rights, email hello@gopickmybrain.com. We'll reply within one month. You can also complain to Ireland's Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie) or your local data protection authority.

9. Children

gopickmybrain is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has used the service, contact us and we'll delete their data.

10. Security

We use reputable providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls to protect your data. No online service can be completely secure, so please use a strong sign-in and let us know if you spot anything wrong.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes, we'll let you know by email or on the site. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
